Grade 304:

Composition: Contains 18-20% chromium and 8-10.5% nickel.

 

Corrosion resistance: Offers good general corrosion resistance, suitable for most atmospheric and mild chemical environments.

 

Weldability: Excellent weldability using all common methods.

 

Heat resistance: Can withstand temperatures up to 870°C (1,600°F) and intermittent service up to 925°C (1,700°F).

 

Applications: Widely used in kitchen equipment, architectural trim, chemical containers, and industrial equipment.

 

Grade 304L:

Composition: Similar to 304, but with a lower carbon content (0.03% maximum).

 

Corrosion resistance: Similar to 304, with improved resistance to sensitization during welding.

 

Weldability: Excellent weldability, similar to 304.

 

Heat resistance: Can withstand temperatures up to 870°C (1,600°F) and intermittent service up to 925°C (1,700°F).

Grade 316:

Composition: Contains 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, and 2-3% molybdenum.
